All information on IRL

The IRL – International Requirement List – is a thematic compilation of various different requirement catalogs for electric and diesel locomotives from the approval organisations and network operators from Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland.

It describes the requirements, standards, regulations, laws and guidelines based on which the individual components up to the complete railway vehicle are approved by the authorities.

In addition, the IRL contains information relating to the cross approval of the approval procedure by each respective supervisory authority between the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

• Multiple languages This website and the requirements catalogs are available in four languages (German, Italian, Dutch, English).
• Requirements updated regularly Information on the national requirements of the approval and network access authorities as well as the cross acceptance of the approval procedures is consistently updated.
• Revision list All revisions to the national requirement catalogs of the 5 countries involved at a glance.
• Fast overview Extensive search, filtering and navigation functions.
• Export Service The complete catalog or selected topics can be stored as a local copy in pdf form or as an Excel file.
• Index of Standards All standards, laws and guidelines are compiled in an index, which includes the release number.

• Contract Terms and Conditions Each contract is completed for a period of 12 months. It will be extended automatically by an additional 12 months if the agreement is not cancelled three months prior to the expiration of the contract period. The cancellation must be given in writing.
